Anger Management
Anger is either mild i.e. a little annoyance or frustration or a fully-fledged rage.
The human emotion of anger is completely normal and healthy, until it gets out of control and turns destructive. Anger then has the power to make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful force or emotion.
Anger is an emotional state that is accompanied by physiological and biological changes i.e. your heart rate and blood pressure go up as do the levels of your adrenaline and energy.
Anger can be caused by internal events e.g. worrying, brooding and/or by accessing memories, or by external events e.g. having an experience that triggers angry feelings.
The instinctive way to express anger is to respond aggressively which enables a "fight to survive" defensive mechanism to kick in if we perceive we are being attacked.
Responding aggressively is also physically or/and emotionally abusive (when uncontrolled) and leads to a trail of destruction.
To suppress anger means the emotion is turned inwards being compressed into the body. This is a silently dangerous anger as over time, suppressed anger builds up like a pressure cooker waiting for a hair trigger which then releases stored anger spontaneously and without measure.
Unexpressed anger can also lead to passive-aggressive behaviour (getting back at people indirectly, rather than confronting them head-on). People who are constantly putting others down, criticizing everything, and making cynical comments haven't learned how to constructively express their anger.
The question really is "How to manage angry feelings - and at the same time get your needs met without hurting others?"
When you are not in control of your anger, someone or something is going to get hurt.

Anger is a great force. If you control it, it can be transmuted into a power which can move the whole world.

“I wish to say thank you for supporting me to look at the bullying I experienced which has run my life for 30 years. Something feels different & new inside and each day seems easier. Why did I wait so long? Thank you.”
